Thoughts from Friends
Poem for Oda Lisa
by Trish Czichos
April 22, 2005
I thought not her sight should be so keen,
Blazing forth with light unseen.
I did not think that she could see
what was somehow hidden from me.
Yet gifts are given in measure untold
Some to give, some to hold,
Some to share, some as tools
To light the way of wise and fools.
I saw the ways of girls and men,
Some with joy beyond my ken,
For things unknown and not beheld.
When tragedy struck, some were felled.
But others rose in joyful light
And used their gifts so true, so bright,
And seldom turned to view the shade,
But thanked the Lord for all he made
And ran with patience the race assigned
Nor stopped to fuss and feel maligned
To that great One from which they're learning
The truth there is "no shadow of turning."
For vision pure at life's bright end,
For perfect clarity that God will send,
She waits with patience impatiently
But paces on till she is free.
